Empowering educators.
Strengthening democracy.

Kinder Civics has a two-fold mission: to equip educators with the tools and confidence they need to teach civics effectively and to help young people become informed, engaged citizens. We believe that strengthening democracy begins with supporting both teachers and the learners they guide.

Kinder Civics creates engaging, accessible civic education resources that help educators teach civics with confidence and help young people develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed for thoughtful participation in their communities and democracy.

Kinder Civics supports educators through practical, classroom-ready resources that help teachers feel more prepared to teach civics, current events, civil discourse, media literacy, and democratic engagement. Our goal is to provide educators with materials that are informative, accessible, balanced, and easy to implement across a variety of learning environments.

We also create student-focused books and educational materials that introduce civic concepts in age-appropriate, engaging ways for learners in grades K–8. Through coloring books, activity books, classroom resources, and other educational materials, we help students explore citizenship, government, community, history, and civic responsibility.

The need for civic education has never been greater. A January iCivics survey found that more than half of teachers reported fearing backlash for covering a topic the “wrong way,” and many indicated that even basic civics concepts had become difficult to teach. At the same time, a recent Harvard Youth Poll found that Americans ages 18–29 are experiencing significant economic anxiety, declining optimism about the future, and deep distrust in government and political institutions. These trends highlight the importance of civic education that is informative, evidence-based, and accessible to both educators and learners.

The word kinder reflects two important ideas: resources designed for young learners and a commitment to a kinder approach to civic life. We believe civic education should encourage curiosity, critical thinking, empathy, respectful dialogue, and evidence-based engagement. Rather than generating more heat, civic education should help generate more light.

At Kinder Civics, our mission is simple: to help educators and learners build the knowledge, skills, and habits that strengthen communities and democracy—one conversation, one classroom, and one student at a time.

Empowering the Next Generation of Civic Leaders

Kinder Civics empowers educators to teach civics with confidence and inspires young people to become informed, engaged citizens. Through accessible, engaging resources, we help strengthen democracy one classroom at a time.
